Ten of Pentacles Tarot Card Description
Let’s take a look at the Ten of Pentacles’ illustration and colors to fully understand its meaning and symbolism.
At first glance, you’ll see three generations illustrated on this Minor Arcana card. But if you consider the ancestral scroll hanging on the wall of the open room, there are four.
On the left side of the card, a grandfatherly figure sits wrapped in a blanket with an intricate design. Both he and a young toddler have a hand outstretched, petting two white dogs standing in front of what looks to be a married couple.
The woman and her husband stand underneath an arch that leads to an even greater estate. we cannot see the husband’s face as his back is turned but what we can see is that his life is looking at him lovingly.
The grapes situated behind the patriarch and the ten pentacles placed all around the card are telling symbols. Not only does this family have emotional harmony, but they are financially balanced as well.
Ten of Pentacles Tarot Upright Meaning
The Ten of Pentacles is all about joyously carrying on the family lineage. This is an accurate assessment, but the message of this card is much deeper than it appears.
The Upright Ten of Pentacles represents strong foundations and traditions, conventional ways of thinking, and attitudes that have allowed growth to continue for generations.
These deep roots allow the family to thrive in a way that it wouldn’t otherwise. But as with everything, there must be equilibrium.
Money and Career Meaning
As much as this is a love card, the Ten of Pentacles in a financial tarot spread is a money card first and foremost. It represents material and financial prosperity and tells of inheritance, a windfall, and riches.
We aren’t talking about the fortune that comes from new investments, but ‘old money’ connected to family in some way.
However, if you do own a business or have an idea for one, this card suggests that it will grow into an empire much bigger than what was expected.
It can also predict some type of financial stability coming from an unexpected source. Great Uncle Herbert naming you in his will isn’t far fetched if the Ten of Pentacles has appeared.
Another possibility with this card has to do with laying the foundation yourself. Instead of waiting for something to be handed down, you must start preparing for future generations.
This could include making your own investments, brokering a new contract, or putting a will in place.
Love and Relationships Meaning
The face of the Ten of Pentacles is graced by a complete family. This makes it a wonderful reading for single and committed people alike who want to know “Is he or she the one for me”?
If you want children and a stable home life, this Minor Arcana card is a welcome sign for sure. Domestic harmony, family stability, relationship security, and married bliss abound.
If things aren’t lovely just yet, you might want to look at the Ten of Pentacles as an explanation rather than an outcome.
Are inherited issues such as meddling in-laws or problems with substance abuse standing in your way of wholeness? Pinpointing your problems and discussing them from a place of love and mutual respect is the first step.
The same is true if you are estranged from a family member or friend and hoping to reconcile. This card suggests that if you take the action the outcome will be a positive one. However, it won’t occur without you playing an integral part in the process.
Health and Spirituality Meaning
In a health Tarot reading, the Ten of Pentacles suggests that you might be struggling with a physical or mental health issue that has a genetic link.
Diabetes, heart disease, and other disorders are often linked to our ancestral line. There’s a DNA aspect of course, but many people believe there to be an energy connection as well.
Make your health a priority and use what you know about the past to help build a stronger future.
You can consider meditation and chakra realignment as well if you feel the problem has more to do with the spirit than the body.
Ten of Pentacles Reversed Meaning
Keep in mind that the number ten can represent both the beginning and the end. It means that just as the Ten of Pentacles can signify the starting of a great legacy, it can also mean the closing of a chapter.
The reversed Ten of Pentacles often represents loss when it comes to money, family stability, friends, and even health. It can also predict family squabbles over money, separation, and even divorce.
This ten is a card of restriction, demonstrating how being forced into certain roles based on tradition can leave a person feeling restricted.
Are you having trouble being yourself and living your life as you wish because you fear what others might think? Are you thinking of ending a relationship or friendship that no longer serves you?
As painful as this may be, the Ten of Pentacles reversed suggests it may be for the best.
After all, life-long success requires connections that are strong and of substance. If you desire affluence, a family, or even just peace, choosing who enters and stays in your life wisely is a must.

In a love Tarot reading, the reversed Ten of Pentacles brings warnings and challenges to relationships. If you’re currently in a relationship, the appearance of this card signifies insecurity, instability, or the possibility of divorce.
Your relationship may lack solid foundations, and you might prioritize materialistic pursuits over emotional connection and family values. Arguments over money or financial burdens can strain the relationship.
For singles, the reversed Ten of Pentacles indicates a lack of readiness for a committed relationship. You may be seeking casual connections or exploring non-conventional relationship dynamics.
It’s important to consider the potential challenges and unconventional paths that may arise in your love life.

When the Ten of Pentacles and Ace of Cups arrive together, they don’t come empty-handed. Their gift: a brand-new bundle of joy. If you’ve been dealing with infertility, don’t worry.
It seems that your dreams of a new baby are about to come to fruition. If it isn’t you that is longing for a child, someone in your family will soon be expecting.
