What is a birth chart?
A birth chart, also called a natal chart, maps the sky at the moment and place you were born. The outer ring is the zodiac. The symbols mark the Sun, Moon and planets. The lines joining them show their angles to one another, known as aspects.
Your Sun sign is one part of that picture. A full birth chart also shows your Moon sign, rising sign and the planets in their signs and houses. In astrology, these placements are read together, rather than as separate descriptions of who you are.

Your Sun, Moon and rising signs
See your three main signs at the start of the report. The Sun is traditionally associated with identity, the Moon with emotional habits, and the rising sign with your approach to the world. The rising sign is the part of the zodiac on the eastern horizon at your birth.
Your chart reading
Read about your Moon sign, your rising sign and the planet that rules it. Each reading describes the astrological tradition behind the placement and how it might show up in everyday life.
Planetary placements
Find the Sun, Moon and eight planets in the placement table, together with Chiron, the lunar nodes and Lilith. With a birth time, you can also see their degrees, houses and retrograde markers.
The twelve houses
The houses divide the chart into areas of life, such as home, relationships and work. Your report lists the sign and degree at the start of each house. These depend on both your birth time and birthplace.
Aspects between planets
See conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines and oppositions in the aspect grid, together with six minor aspects. The Reading lists every major aspect with its orb, or distance from its exact angle.
Balance and patterns
Compare the chart's fire, earth, air and water placements, then its cardinal, fixed and mutable signs. You can also see planet clusters and the overall arrangement of the chart.
How to read your birth chart
Start with your Sun, Moon and rising signs, then read the interpretations. Use the placement table to find a planet in the wheel. Its sign describes how it is traditionally expressed; its house names an area of life. Aspects connect one placement to another.
You don't need to understand every symbol at once. The aspect grid shows the connections at a glance; the detailed table below the reading names each pair and its angle.
