Our desire to inject more positivity and happiness into our lives has seen the popularity of manifestation, its methods, and techniques skyrocket. With videos strewn across social platforms like Instagram and TikTok, it’s no surprise that the simplicity and variability of the manifestation journal method have made it one of the easiest techniques to begin with and stick to in the longer term.
I, myself, have delved deep into this technique at a time when I needed more focus. A time when I felt my own mental health slowly seep into a deeper negative pool and I desperately needed something to help me focus on the good, the happy, and the joyful.
That’s right, you may be here because you want to manifest your deepest goals and desires and it’s true this can be a great method for that, but there’s so much more to be gained from a manifestation journal. Keep reading to find out what exactly is a manifestation journal and how it can uplift and support your life and your journey.
What is a Manifestation Journal?
A manifestation journal is a physical notebook, journal, or piece of paper, where you write what you are hoping to attract into your life. Well, that’s the most simple way of putting it but the manifestation journal is far more nuanced than that. It’s a tool for whatever you need right in your current life.
Perhaps it is pure manifestation you are looking for, the big goals, dreams, and desires have evaded your grasp so far so you have finally decided to align yourself with the universe and manifest these dreams but there are other things you can use a manifestation journal for.
Perhaps you are deeply unhappy with your current life, and not so much the circumstances but just a looming feeling of dissatisfaction, a manifestation journal can help you focus on the good you do have to turn the constant spin of negativity into positivity which will slowly ripple through every facet of your life.
A manifestation journal is your place to let go of the fear of judgment. There’s no one here to tell you your desires are wrong. So write it all down, internalize it, and believe that you deserve happiness and success. These journals are physical representations of your manifestation goals. They can help to steady your focus and deepen the power of your desire.
A massive part of manifestation is repeating what you desire over and over again. A manifestation journal provides you a place to not only write down these goals repeatedly but now you have a readable list of your goals and dreams. Way to make it even more powerful right?
How Can a Manifestation Journal Can Help You To Achieve Your Dreams?
A manifestation journal helps us to manifest our dreams but forces us to write them down and read them often, these actions direct our subconsciouses to focus on our goals at a far deeper level but let’s get a little bit more into it than just that.
What is it about a manifestation journal that really helps us achieve our dreams, surely it can’t just be the power of the universe?
Making You Happier
Our positive vibrations, frequencies, or energies (whatever term you like to use) is affected constantly by our own state of mind. Our views of ourselves and our lives. A manifestation journal can help you to see the good you already experience rather than focusing on what you believe your life lacks.
According to the Law of Vibration, the vibrations you exude into the world are controlled by the vibrational level you possess. If you find you are consistently negative, sad, and self-deprecating your vibrations will be low and, as they say, what you put out into the world comes back to you. Even emotions of jealousy and greed can push your goals further away from you.
A manifestation journal can help us to draw on the good things we have to change the focus of our mind and raise our vibrational frequencies. This refocusing can help us to feel more satisfied and joyful when we think of the lives we currently journey through.
Once you start putting positive vibes out into the world you’ll be amazed at what starts landing on your doorstep.
Daily Visualisation
Writing your ultimate goals and dreams in a manifestation journal can help you do visualize the result of these dreams every single day. It’s this focus that strengthens your desire in the eyes of the universe.
Our lives are so busy now that it can be incredibly easy to forget to set aside a time for manifestation meditation or other such techniques. However, a manifestation journal can take up as little time as you have free. Sometimes just a sentence is enough to draw your focus back onto your goal.
A journal can also be a fantastic support for other visualization methods you may use and even for any vision boards or wheels you may intend to use.
Improved Communication
One skill you may not realize you will work on by using a manifestation journal is your ability to communicate effectively. Not only are these important skills to have when you are trying to put your ultimate goals out into the universe, poorly communicate them and the universe may misunderstand what it is that you truly desire, but it also opens up your world of opportunity.
The universe works by putting opportunities into your path, with poor communication skills you may not be able to act on this correctly. Which can mean letting important chances slip you by. A manifestation journal can also help you to understand what it is that you really want rather than what you think you want.
Mindfulness
One of the core building blocks of manifestation and the law of attraction is mindfulness. Being able to appreciate your present moments and circumstances for what they are.
There are many ways to introduce more mindfulness into your days such as mindful eating, mindful mediation, mindful breathing, and mindful walking. However, a manifestation journal is a simple way of reaffirming the things you see and appreciate every single day.
This mindfulness can help to subconsciously shift your mindset and attitude making you more receptive to the universe’s gifts. This shift helps us to create positive habits and routines that can pave the way for our goals and dreams to manifest.
Simply put, opening your eyes to the now means your eyes are open to the future and its possibilities.
How To Start a Manifestation Journal
Starting a manifestation journal is so simple. You can purchase one of the many dedicated to manifestation journals, pick up a simple spiral-bound notebook, or even go the digital route.
Going digital with your manifestation journal could be as simple as just using the notes app on your phone or downloading a full digital manifestation journal for you to fill in.
Your journal doesn’t have to be overly fancy or ornate because the important bit is what will be going on the inside pages. Yet, there’s something to be said for a rather beautiful notebook, so if that’s a way to make the experience more enjoyable for you, I say go for it! Get that leather-bound, stamped, or glittered little notebook number. Whatever works for you.
Whichever option you decide to go ahead with, your next step is to decide what you are using your journal for. Do you want to manifest more happiness, manifest more money, or invite the love of your life into your current situation? Until you know exactly what you are trying to create, don’t put pen to paper.
Once you have decided on your manifestation goal, you’re ready to start writing. Take a few moments before each entry to focus your mind on your goal. Close your eyes focus on your breath, and once you feel calm and relaxed get to writing.
Whatever you decide to write ensure that it is poured full of love and positivity. Any negative language or innuendo can actually affect how well your manifestation works. Your goal here is to visualize the future of your dream, what it means to you, what a day could look like once you have reached this goal. Try to avoid anything that focuses on loss, lack, or negativity.
Once you have written your affirmation or goal take the time to focus on every word you have written and how it makes you feel. You can even close your eyes and repeat the sentences in your head, allowing the positivity to wash over your mind, soul, and body.
Manifestation Journal Prompts
Starting something new like a manifestation journal, especially if you haven’t journaled before, can feel a little overwhelming and tough to find where you should start. I get it, I was the same when I first began my manifestation journal. That’s where the next few prompts come in.
These prompts can help you to get off to a good start and help you shape what you want to manifest, how you feel about current circumstances, and how your goals could change your life, and they may even provide a little inspiration as to how you can actualize your goals.
Your Biggest Goal
Focus on what you would like to achieve before the year is out. What does that success look like to you? Perhaps it’s as simple as creating a self-care routine you actually stick to. It could be a big goal such as finally scoring that promotion you have been dreaming about before Christmas rolls around.
Whatever you choose as your biggest goal for this year, make sure it’s something you actually want. Don’t allow others and their ideas of what success means to sway your ideas. Your biggest goal of the year will be personal to you.
This Time Next Year
Close your eyes and imagine that you are standing in this exact spot, but it’s twelve months later. What does your world look like? How does it make you feel? You might not even before in the same spot, so where are you?
This idea can be a fantastic way of figuring out what your goals and dreams are if you’re still not sure. Work out what is important to you, and if you have yet to possess it, now is the time to start working out how to get there.
Much like my previous prompt you need to shed the expectations and beliefs of others. What you want and need in life will be completely different to your neighbor, your friend, and even your family members.
one Action Item
If you already have a goal or dream in mind that you greatly desire now it’s time to think of how you can get there. Now, I’m not talking about if you want a house that you need to work out how to buy it. Let’s look at this on a much smaller scale.
Say you want to own your own home but you haven’t got a deposit yet, what can you do today that will help you reach your goal of saving for a deposit. Something realistic that you can do such as starting a side hustle, saving a few notes every month, or selling on items you no longer need.
One simple action that you can take now, is to support yourself in the future.
What Is Holding You Back?
Maybe you need to look deeper into yourself, what is it that you do that is holding you back from reaching your goals. It may even be a belief or a habit that you have been unconsciously holding onto that has stopped you from actualizing your dreams. What is it?
Once you have worked it out, now is the time to use your manifestation journal to let go of that habit or belief and welcome in new routines that support your high-frequency goals and your life’s dreams.
What Is Your Why?
This is a biggie but it tends to be one many of us forget to focus on and it can be a great place to start at the beginning of your manifestation journal journey. The big why.
SO, you know what you want, you may have even worked out some physical steps you can take to help support and grow this dream but why do you even believe this dream is the one you want to prioritize over everything else.
What is it about this dream that makes you desire it so much? Will it elevate your current life circumstances? Will it lead to a more peaceful life? Or will it help you become more financially stable? Whatever your why is make sure it is clear and concrete and that you believe it.
Manifestation Journal Templates
To get you started, and provide a little more structure to your manifestation journal you may prefer to use a manifestation journal template. Our type A friends might prefer the structure and organization of a journal template.
Sitting down to that first blank page of your manifestation journal can be a little offputting, so a template can provide that inspiration you may be struggling with, in the very early stages.
Luckily for us, the internet has a wealth of templates from free downloadables to templates you can purchase, like all of these beautifully created templates on Etsy.
Pinterest and Etsy are great sources for template inspiration and if you like you can even have a go at creating your own.
Examples of a Manifestation Journal
Everyone writes in a different way and there are so many different ways that you can use a manifestation journal that you are bound to find one that suits you perfectly. Below are five of the most popular journal methods to get you started on your manifestation journal adventure.
Affirmations / 55×5
Positive affirmations are an amazing way for you to raise your vibrational frequency level, which can help to attract your goals and dreams to your life. Remember high vibrations are the goal when we are manifesting.
An affirmation journal is where you write your daily affirmations – written in the present tense – that support and guide your manifestation journey. We write affirmations in the present tense to start the shift from dream to reality.
Each affirmation should resonate with you on a deep emotional level but you must also believe them wholeheartedly, doubt can be the real enemy when it comes to whether your manifestation will work or not.
Your affirmations must always focus on the positive and joyful things you experience or want to attract. For example, if you are on a weight loss journey and you use affirmations to help you anything that draws attention to what you don’t like about yourself will inevitably become what continues to happen.
A good example here is the difference between two different affirmations, one that works and one that doesn’t.
‘I will lose weight and get rid of my love handles’ This one isn’t in the present tense and it also focuses on what you don’t like about yourself. However, ‘I deserve love, my body is beautiful, and I care for it just how I just’ is a fantastic example of a positive and uplifting affirmation.
A popular affirmation technique is the 55×5 method. It’s fairly simple but a little more time-consuming. I personally find this method to be repetitive but many swear by its repetition powers. It’s fairly simple and just requires you to write your affirmation 55 times a day for 5 days in a row.
Idea Journal
Manifestation journals can be a great place for idea dumping. If your mind is swimming with ideas, thoughts, and dreams this can sometimes actually hinder your manifestation journey. The overwhelming abundance of thoughts can lead to less room in your mind for manifestation.
Turning your manifestation journal into an ideas journal can free up space for other things by spending time every evening to get every thought out of your head. It can be a fantastic way of helping you let go of worries and stresses that are negatively impacting your vibrational frequency and you never know, some of those ideas may come in very handy down the road.
The law of attraction and manifesting can only work if you are prepared to take action towards your goals. By using your manifestation journal as a place for this big ‘brain dump’ you are building up a journal full of ideas that can help you take action when you are ready.
Visionboard Journal
A vision board journal is a perfect mix of a traditional manifestation journal and those vision boards that law of attraction supporters, like Oprah Winfrey, would suggest a few years ago. Think of it like an inspirational and aspirational scrapbook.
Fill it will images printed from the internet or cut out from magazines and newspapers. Images that stoke the fires of your dreams and goals. You can include inspiring quotes, words, and even affirmations.
A vision board journal is really more of a visually pleasing version of a manifestation journal. It’s also a fantastic way of harnessing your creative side which can improve your mindset and vibrational frequency.
Set aside time every evening to either look through your vision board journal or to add to it when you feel something is missing.
Manifestation Scripting
If you find complimenting yourself awkward, uncomfortable, or just a little bit cheesy manifestation scripting, or future scripting, may be a better method for your manifestation journal.
Essentially it’s like a traditional journal, you’re writing about your day and everything that has happened but there is one big difference. You write as if you have your goal, you are writing from the perspective of your future self who has gained the goals and realized the ultimate dreams.
This can be a very powerful method as it gives you more of a taste of what your future can feel like. It turns your dreams into something a little more concrete and tangible, which can help your belief in your goals becoming a reality. Remember, belief is everything. If you doubt your dreams can find you, they never will.
Gratitude journal
A gratitude journal is essentially a list of all the things you are grateful for. You can write is as a simple list every single day, or write it as a story of everything you are grateful for. One that flows through every day of your life.
Gratitude journals help shift your mindset to a more positive and reaffirming one. Being able to appreciate and find joy in your present circumstances is a big factor when it comes to the twelve universal laws and manifestations as it helps raise your vibrational frequencies to meet those of your dreams.
You can use a multitude of methods in one journal as well. The best thing about manifesting journals is that it’s all yours to design. It needs to speak to you and your soul.
