Mercury is retrograde until November 13.

Mercury entered retrograde on October 24 and remains in that apparent backward motion until November 13, 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio reports. The station links the period to an astrological tradition that associates Mercury with communication, technology, travel and decisions.

Mercury's retrograde coincides with its November 4 meeting with the sun in Scorpio, The Economic Times reports. Some astrologers call the close alignment a Mercury cazimi and associate it with mental clarity and insight.

Mercury appears to reverse direction#

Retrograde describes how Mercury appears to move, rather than an actual reversal of the planet's path, 104.5 The Team ESPN Radio reports, citing the Old Farmer's Almanac. Wikipedia describes apparent retrograde motion as movement in the opposite direction when seen from a particular vantage point.

The radio station says astrologers associate Mercury retrograde with misunderstandings and problems involving technology. Those associations belong to astrology, a set of divinatory practices that Wikipedia describes as pseudoscientific. The station's account focuses on the Capital Region and Hudson Valley in New York.

The Times of India places Mercury retrograde in Libra in its Gemini horoscope, while The Economic Times describes a November 4 Sun-Mercury alignment in Scorpio. The Times of India also says Mercury is close to the sun and moving back into Swati.

The sun and Mercury meet in Scorpio#

The November 4 meeting is a conjunction, an alignment at approximately the same zodiacal longitude, according to The Economic Times. The paper places it at approximately 12 degrees of Scorpio and says some astrologers associate the close alignment, or cazimi, with mental clarity and insight.

The Economic Times lists trust, privacy and shared resources among Scorpio's traditional themes. Hindustan Times also links the alignment to emotional honesty and deeper conversations. Both accounts place the meeting within Mercury's retrograde period.

In astrology, the sun represents identity, purpose and confidence, while Mercury is associated with thinking, communication and information, The Economic Times reports. The paper says the Scorpio conjunction is traditionally linked with reflection and a fresh look at overlooked details.

Venus is also retrograde during this period. It began its apparent reversal on October 3 and moved back into Libra on October 25, according to The Times of India and astrologer Judy Tsafrir, as reported by Hindustan Times. Both Venus and Mercury are due to resume direct motion on November 13.
